Before you start coloring, here are some jaw-dropping facts that make these dinosaurs worth every crayon stroke — and perfect to share with curious kids while they color.
- Real Size: Real Velociraptors were only about the size of a turkey — roughly 1.6 feet tall and 6.8 feet long. The giant raptors from Jurassic Park are Hollywood magic!
- Feathers: Scientists now confirm that Velociraptors were covered in feathers, not scales. They were essentially large, flightless birds.
- Speed: They could sprint at up to 25 mph, making them swift and remarkably agile hunters.
- Intelligence: The Velociraptor had one of the highest brain-to-body ratios of any dinosaur, making them unusually clever predators.
- Sickle Claw: Their iconic curved claw on the second toe was used to pin down prey — not slash it.
- Time Period: They lived during the Late Cretaceous period, about 75–71 million years ago, in what is now Mongolia and China.
💡 Did you know? The large, scaly raptors from the Jurassic Park films are fictional. Real Velociraptors were feathered and turkey-sized. Our feathered Velociraptor coloring pages reflect the actual science — a great conversation starter while coloring with kids!

5 Cool Things Kids Can Do With Velociraptor Pages
Coloring doesn’t have to stop at the page. Here are five activities that take it further:
1. Make a Dinosaur Crown
Color and cut out two raptor pages, then staple them onto a strip of construction paper to create a wearable dinosaur crown. Kids will love wearing their own prehistoric creation all day.
2. Build a Prehistoric Diorama
Color and cut out several Velociraptors, then stand them inside a shoebox filled with shredded green paper and pebbles for a 3D prehistoric scene. A great weekend craft project.
3. Create a Handmade Greeting Card
Fold a plain sheet of paper in half and paste a small colored raptor on the front for a unique, handmade birthday or thank-you card. Far more memorable than a store-bought card.
4. Classroom Timeline Display
Teachers: print the realistic and feathered pages side by side and use them as part of a dinosaur evolution timeline for your bulletin board. Pair them with fact labels for a full display.
5. Host a Family Coloring Contest
Have everyone color the same page, then vote on the most creative color scheme. No rules — rainbow raptors are absolutely encouraged. A great low-screen activity for a family evening.
